Guidelines for Photoshoots in the Library

  • Purpose
    The following guidelines are dedicated to photoshoot applications intended for teaching, research, or journalistic purposes and others. Applications with political, religious, or commercial agendas, and those deemed inappropriate by the library will be rejected.
  • Application
    1. Photoshoots in the library should only proceed after the application form had been duly filled out and approved of.
    2. Application Time:
      1. Photoshoots with NTHU-related contents should be applied for approval at least 3 workdays ahead.
        Photoshoots with no NTHU-related contents as well as scripted filming sessions should be applied for approval at least 20 workdays ahead. The application form should be accompanied by a proposal and a script. Exceptions can be made for special or emergency circumstances upon the library's approval.
      2. Photoshoots by students, faculty, alumni and toured visitors can be applied for at the front desk that very day.
  • Time & Location:
    1. Available time slots: 8:00-17:00, Mon-Fri on opening days. No access is to be granted in the case of special events, exam weeks and the prior week.
    2. Location: All open spaces for patrons are open for shooting, except for the Quiet Reading Area.
  • Special thanks to the NTHU Library should be made explicit upon publications or displaying of the images taken. Written agreements concerning rights & obligations can be made individually for special collaboration projects.
  • Limitations
    1. Photoshoots should strictly obey those stated in the NTHU Library Reading Services Regulations, and leave patrons as well as librarian work undisturbed.
    2. Using of lightings, tripods, posters and other props should be checked and approved by the library. Unapproved usage is strictly prohibited.
    3. Applicants are responsible for maintaining the cleanness and integrity of the library's property. Applicants are fully liable to legal consequences for any damage done.
    4. Applicants are legally responsible for any third-party rights involved (e.g. intellectual property rights and portrait rights), and should acquire corresponding permission before shooting.
    5. The images taken can only be used for the purpose specified in the application.
  • In the case of violations as specified below, the library is entitled to ask for immediate termination of the shooting session, and dismiss those who are involved from library property. Corresponding penalties are to be carried out as regulated in the NTHU Library Violation Handling Guidelines. The library remains the right to ask for removal of any inappropriate texts, images, and films from public view.
    • Shooting without permission, or lending permission to others
    • Shooting sessions inconsistent with that stated in the application.
    • Shooting of contents that violates the law, regulations of the university or library, or the regular usage of the specific venue.
    • Shooting sessions that contradicts the NTHU Library Reading Services Regulations, or those that severely jeopardizes the maintenance of reading environment, working of library affairs, integrity of library property, or the safety of personnel involved.
  • Applicants that fail to follow the guidelines above are not allowed to publish or display any of the image that are taken unlawfully, and will be disqualified from filing applications throughout the following year.
