National Tsing Hua University Library (hereinafter referred to as "the Library") collects your personal data to provide various services, manage the Library, and maintain order within the Library in accordance with the "Library ACT." In accordance with Article 8, Paragraph 1 of the Personal Data Protection Act (hereinafter referred to as the "PDPA"), the Library hereby informs you of the following matters. Please read them carefully.
- Purpose of Collection
The Library needs to collect, process, and use your personal data to carry out resource utilization, promotional services, order maintenance within the Library, dispute resolution, handling patron violations (including but not limited to overdue items or violations of the "NTHU Library Violation Handling Guidelines"), and related management needs for library operations. - Period and Scope of Personal Data Processing and Use
- The Library will reasonably process and use your personal data within the duration of the collection purpose or the retention period required for operational execution. There is no restriction on the geographical region of processing and use.
- ToThe Library will use your personal data for the purposes for which they were collected, including but not limited to providing your personal data to partner libraries of the University System of Taiwan (UST) for reciprocal access, borrowing, and return services, as well as for necessary communications, notifications, statistical analysis, off-site data backup, and the handling of library disputes and patron policy violations as required for the Library's operations.
- Types of Personal Data Collected
- The personal data collected by the Library for operational purposes includes your Chinese and English names, ID/card number, National Identification Number, contact phone number and address, email address, records of your entry/exit to and from the Library (including but not limited to card swipe records), and your participation in Library activities, as specified in the application forms for various services.
- When you use the Internet resources provided by the Library, the Library and the online data service providers will retain cookies for management and record. The record would include IP addresses, the file used and the time.
- Providing Personal Data
- You may choose whether or not to provide personal data, but service of the Library cannot be offered if you decline to provide the data required.
- Please provide full, accurate and up-to-date data as required by each service, and inform the Library the alterations if there is any.
- If you provide inaccurate, outdated, incomplete or misleading data, the Library will not take any responsibility to the loss ensued.
- Confidentiality and Exceptions Regarding Personal Data
- The Library will perform with due diligence to protect your Personal Data. If your personal data is stolen, leaked, falsified, or damaged in any way due to force majeure, you will be informed by the Library by phone, email or an announcement on the website.
- The Library shall not provide your personal data to third parties without your consent, except when complying with lawful investigations conducted by judicial, police, or other competent authorities.
- Your Rights Regarding Your Personal Data
In accordance with Article 3 of the PDPA, you may assert the following rights regarding the personal data held by the Library:- Request to access or review the data.
- Request to obtain a duplicate copy.
- Request to supplement or correct the data.
- Request to stop collection, processing, or use, or request deletion.

This agreement shall be governed and construed by the laws of the Republic of China and by the District Court in Hsinchu.
