Photocopying Service Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • Q1:How much does it cost to make photocopies and print outs? And how do I pay?

    You can use either the Easy Card or coins to pay for the copying/printing. The coin printing machines are available on the 4th floor of the Main Library and the 2nd floor of the Humanities and Social Sciences Branch.

    • Black and white- A4, B4, and under: $1NT per page; A3: $2NT per page
    • Color- A4, B4, and under: $5NT per page; A3: $10NT per page
  • Q2:What is the lowest amount I need to have on my Easy Card to use the printing machine?

    You must have at least $3NT in your Easy Card for black and white printing, and $11NT for color printing.

  • Q3:Does the Library provide color printing service?

    The color printing machines are available on the 4th floor of the Main Library and the 1st floor of the Humanities and Social Sciences Branch.

    • A4, B4, and under: $5NT per page; A3: $10NT per page
    • Please make sure to select the color printing option before you start printing
  • Q4:Even though I entered the correct password for printing my document, the machine shows that it is not working, what to do?

    It takes longer time for the printing machine to receive the document if the file is large. Please wait for a while, do not resend the file. If you accidentally sent the file multiple times, please seek help at the Information Desk to cancel them.

  • Q5:Why aren’t the printing machines near the Information Retrieval area?

    Because we have especially equipped the printing rooms with air condition and filters in order to maintain the Library’s air quality and keep the noise level to a minimum.

  • Q6:Why can’t I make print outs from my personal laptop in the Library?

    Due to drivers’ compatibility and data security issues, we do not provide this service as of now.

  • Q7:Why aren’t the printing rooms equipped with computers for us to make printing easier?

    We are still considering this service due to limitations on the budgets.

  • Q8:Will I be charged when paper jams happen?
    No, you will not be charged. When a paper jam occurs, please follow the directions on the machine screen, pulling out the jammed paper, and then the printing process will be resumed. If it is still not working, please try another printing machine first, and inform the librarian with details of the broken machine (ex. 3F, No. 2 printing machine) before you leave the Library.
  • Q9:Can I ask for a receipt?

    Yes, you can. Please head to the 1F Information Desk of the Main Library or the copy service staff of the Humanities and Social Sciences Branch, please provide the following:

    • Applicant name
    • Easy Card number (10 digits)
    • Printing machine used
    • Phone number
    • Tax ID
    • Cost (amount of fee of your printing)

    Please pick up your receipt after 7 days at the Information Desk (we keep the receipts for 6 months maximum).
